I am one of the many "functional" people with ADD that slipped under the radar and was not diagnosed while I was a child or teenager. While I did well in school, I found that I had to study twice as hard or more than my classmates to learn the material. My problems worsened in college, where I was expected to learn much more material in a relatively short time. This type of problem plagued me throughout my academic career even into graduate school.

I also had issues with impulsivity and would blurt things out at times without thinking about the consequences. Also, I found this impulsivity leading me to purchase new cars on a whim just "because it is so cool!" I had nervous habits, such as being jittery, constantly tapping the floor with my right foot, hands always fidgeting, etc.

The largest impact that ADD had in my adult life, besides not really excelling at work but merely "getting by", was my intense anxiety associated with airplane flying. Well, let me clarify, that my issue was not with flying per say, but with feeling claustrophobic while flying. This truly limited not only my enjoyment of flying, but where I could fly to, as one cannot really drive to Hawaii! It was because of my phobia with claustrophobic situations that brought the creator of ADD-care™, Jef Gazley, into my life. In fact, my career path was quickly heading to unemployment as flying was an integral part of my career as an engineer. I had no idea at the time that I was on a life changing path that has blessed my life many times over!

Jef is a very experienced therapist who has treated many patients with ADD. In fact, Jef saw right away that I had ADD-like characteristic traits such as the constant fidgeting, impulsive responses, etc. Jef and I met in October 2005 to work on my phobias (which it turned out that there were more phobias than just claustrophobia), which he first treated my chemical imbalance. I was first placed on Effexor and Adderall to treat what they call a type four ADD, better known as Over Focused ADD. While my eyes were truly opened by having the use of my pre-frontal cortex, I was not too thrilled about being on a Federally controlled substance, as Adderall is an amphetamine based drug, used to help stimulate the pre-frontal cortex.

Jef and I first discussed trying ADD-care™ as a trial based treatment plan to see how it would stimulate my pre-frontal cortex. I was on-board for this trial immediately, as I was excited about using a natural remedy to treat my ADD symptoms! Jef and I saw a very positive effect of ADD-care™ on treating my ADD. The immediate greatest benefits I noted with ADD-care™ was (1) my pre-frontal cortex stimulation was on par with Adderall, (2) the increased sense of calmness not experienced while taking Adderall, and (3) a very natural roll-off of the medication not seen with Adderall. We journeyed to the Amen clinic, where we did a series of SPECT brain scans, which measured the blood flow of in the brain and also provided a 3-D topographic picture of my brain, which we could see where areas of high or low blood flow existed, as well as any physical trauma, such as slight damage to the back of my brain due to a fall on ice when I was six.

The initial scan of my brain without any medication, showed little to zero blood flow in my pre-frontal cortex after doing a simple "impulsivity testing" prior to the SPECT scan. We then did a SPECT scan while on the ADD-care™, which showed blood flow in my pre-frontal cortex of order of what we saw with an Adderall baseline scan! The attending psychiatrist (M.D.) Dr. Larry Momaya from the Amen clinic seemed to be impressed by the ADD-care™ results. He stated that the ADD-care™ seemed to provide 90% of the stimulation of the pre frontal cortex compared to the 20mg Adderall SPECT scan! Dr. Momaya also stated that it seemed like a great idea to switch to the All Natural ADD-care™ would have no impact on long term health, most notably with regards to the high blood pressure, hyper-tension, racing heart-rate, which has been seen with patients taking sizeable dosages of Adderall for long periods of time. These SPECT scans are shown on the web site. Also, from the Adderall SPECT scan vs. the ADD-care™ SPECT scan, one can see that the basil ganglia and cingulated system are less excited in the ADD-care™ scan versus the Adderall scan! What is even more amazing is that during the ADD-care™ scans I was having anxiety attacks due to a previous trauma with a brain imaging machine. Jef was able to relieve these the night before the Adderall test by some trauma techniques. If the anxiety wasn't present the ADD-care™ scans would have been even better.
